Visual arts

The Culturepath in visual arts has two different kind of visits: the compulsory and the optional.
Visual arts has five visits which are compulsory to all pupils in basic education:

The year class 2 goes to the movies - this visit can be combined with the movie visit in mother tongue.

The year class 4 visits Turku Art Museum - Turku Art Museum joins the Culturepath at the beginning of autumn 2005.

The year class 5 visits Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art. The year class 7 has two Culturepath visits: one visit to the movies (together with mother tongue) and the second visit to Turku Art Museum.

There are two optional visits in visual arts: the first during the year classes 1-4 and the second in the year class 7.

The year classes 1-4 can choose their visits from the following: the Cultural Workshop in Cultural Centre, International meetingpoint or some gallery in Cultural Centre, especially Ullakkogalleria. The optional visits can be directed to Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum, the Kuralan Kylämäki Village or Workshops in Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova Museums. It is also possible to visit Turku Castle, Turku Cathedral or private galleries. You can also go to see an artist or invite an artist to the school, you can participate to cultural happenings in Turku or you can even go to the movies again

The year class 7 can choose their visit from the visits above. Moreover, they can visit Artoteque in Cultural Centre and Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art.

From the point of view of the visual arts teaching it is important to remember that the notebook of Culturepath gives information about the previous visits to the future teachers and schools.
